Claire had distinctly heard Dr. Stuart calling after her, but she never turned. She could hardly bear what she had just witnessed, let alone confront him about it. She felt her heart fluttering wildly, and her stomach was in knots, but she didn’t quite know why. She wanted to run, to scream, to be left alone… No, that was not true.
